It’s been a while, but I wanted to remind everyone that the Spartan Race is just a month-ish away on April 23rd. They did change the location on us, it’s now in Snohomish. BUT we will carpool, it’ll be great. We are still trying to create the largest team we can. Last I checked, there was 12 of us signed up and ready go. Dunk tank sign up is on the back board. It was be available all day, 7am – 7pm on 9/21. Get your name on the board if you don’t want to wait. Also, they ask that you do not workout 2 hrs prior to your test. Because the dunk tank is here all day, it also be available when we are closed between 11:30 – 3:45. So, if you have time in your day, pop over to the back parking lot and get your test done. We are also taking payment for the challenge. As you pay, your name will be put on the back board so we know who is in. If you are not doing the health challenge, but are doing the dunk tank, we are also collecting payment for that as well.

True story: Periodically, people ask me about the name of the gym because somehow, they don't think I look very Mad Dawg-ish. Shocking, I know. The name Mad Dawg came from me giving myself encouragement when I would ride up the "front hill" where I went to school (Fort Lewis College). The hill was short and steep, so at the crucial moment when it would be easier, and probably faster, to walk, I would say to myself "Come on, you're a Mad Dawg, you got this." (Technically, I was a "Mad Dog," but now I have to be a "Mad Dawg" because of, you know, domain name availability, I think you get the point. You are spell and grammar checking your inner dialogue right?) When you are struggling, do you have an alter-ego that you name your inner athlete? Do you have a secret phrase that you tell yourself? Do you count your steps in hexidecimal so you rest a little less than in decimal (another story for another time)? The reality is that you are going to self-talk, so why not make it solution-oriented? (Thanks to Leigh Anne Dennis for posting this)
